AMD‘s coming enthusiast platform is known as 4×4, or Quadfather by some, will pair two dual-core Athlon 64 FX processors in the same system for a total of four physical processor cores. When it released the first information about the 4×4 platform it was focusing on the fact that you will be able to use up to four graphics circuits, thus the name. Today, it’s just NVIDIA which has this and it’s therefore no major surprise that NVIDIA will supply the chipsets for AMD’s 4×4 system. But we can’t help to see the irony as AMD’s is acquiring ATI and how it will cancel the production of Intel chipsets. We’re eager to see the 4×4 platform in action and how it will be able to stand up against Intel’s quad-core Kentsfield processor.
