ATI won’t launch its R600 circuit until the first quarter of 2007 from what it seems. When R600 arrives it will be a very powerful card and if we’re to believe the rumors that’ve appeared the memory bandwidth could become a big trump. Now even more information about R600 has appeared and this points to that it will be a power-consuming and physically large card. According to VR-Zone, R600 will consume up to 300W, which matches earlier reports, and to cool this monster ATI has designed a special cooler using four heatpipes for removing the heat from the core.
The card is expected to be long, about as long as NVIDIA G80, but the cooler is suppose to be even longer than the card itself, which could become a problem to some. But since it’s still pretty long time before we will see the actual card any information that appears is of course unofficial and bound to be updated further up ahead, but there is a lot pointing to that R600 could become a graphics card like few other, both in good and bad ways.
