ATI is working overtime to get its R600 circuit ready as soon as possible, this to get a counter-strike against NVIDIA’s 8800 series. We’ve already been astounded by G80’s power consumption and even if the card isn’t as large as we first feared it’s still a pretty large piece. R600 is going to be a tad worse in both ways though and that ATI’s next generation graphics circuit will consume up to 225W (300W) is close to a fact and ATI is now working on creating a more efficient cooling while it is at the same time trying to shorten the card.
