AMD recently made an extensive order with one of its partners, Hewlett-Packard, to cover its silicon design team’s need for computing power. It has namely ordered 700 HP ProLiant BL465c blade servers. These 700 servers will according to AMD offer a performance/watt increase of 30% when compared to regular rack servers and if we’re being optimistic we dare to say these are for the new and interesting processor/graphics architectures and that AMD needs these to complete the project as soon as possible.
“The Sunnyvale, Calif., chip maker said it was looking for a system of blades to help its silicon design team develop and design the architecture of its chips, the circuitry of the chips and a number of verification jobs in these projects.”
