R600 has since NVIDIA’s launch of G80 and the GeForce 8800 series has become an even hotter topic. Earlier on pictures appeared at the Chinese site PCPOP and now they’ve been able to come across some more information, information that doesn’t quite match what we’ve heard earlier on. It is said that the latest revision runs at frequencies above 800MHz (!) and does so at only 1.2V. The core is said to only consume 80A, which results in a power consumption of a mere 96W. All in all this would mean about half of what GeForce 8800 consumes and does this with smaller core with more transistors. But then they say that card card uses GDDR3, which fits badly with the fact that ATI has acquired all GDDR4 production for quite some time now.
