AMD has opened up to its graphics partners by allowing them to come with their own suggestions for designs of cards based on the X1950XT circuit. ATI has for long been making all of the cards and therefore the variation between the cards have been very little, especially as ATI for long disallowed any overclocking from factory. According to HKEPC, AMD has now received special models from manufacturer to approve. If they are approved they will be launched in the middle of January at what will probably be a lower price than the regular Radeon X1950XT cards. Hopefully this is the start of a trend so that we will see a greater variation in the future.
