The code name Thunder has been uttered by old mad Mike Magee over at his personal blog. Thunder is the name of a new strategy and not a card per se, and could very well be the upcoming R700 series. The story doesn’t tell though, but apparently, the strategy will turn things upside-down and bring AMD back in the game. The last few months of price cuts and CrossFireX has left AMD in a situation with no single GPU powerful enough to measure up to NVIDIA’s selection. Instead it has tried to make the most of what they do have and pair as many of them together as possible. Something which has work so-so in the reviews, great in benchmarks, but not so much in the sales.
