As expected Intel has now decided to go with the P55 name for the chip carrying the Ibex peak moniker. Ibex peak is the chip that will be working alongside the coming mainstream desktop chips Lynnfield and Havendale. Unlike today’s solution with both a northbridge (P45) and a southbridge (ICH10), P55 will be a single-chip solution. It will still offer similar features as the P45 and ICH10 combined, meaning 14 USB2.0 ports, 6 SATA ports (RAID 0/1/5/10) and CrossFire. You can use either one card with full x16 lanes bandwidth or two with 8x bandwidth each.
