OCZ has launched a new external memory it calls OCZ Throttle eSATA Drive. The memory is a bit like the memory announced by Silicon Power recently, where you can connect the “USB memory stick” to either a miniUSB or eSATA port. The latter offers considerably higher transfer rates, especially read rates. OCZ claims a read rate at 90MB/s while the write speed is said to be 30MB/s, lower than the 48.9MB/s Silicon Power touted. This is one of few things separating the memories though, which is a bit surprising. The memories namely look almost identical, both design and specifications, but it at least seems like eSATA memories are the latest fad.
