OCZ Apex is the latest addition to the mid-range segment of Solid State Drives and as we have informed you before the Apex series sports a pretty construction. The unit uses two separate memory controllers, JMicon 602B, that creates an internal RAID configuration. Completely invisible for the operating system, but at the same time a lot faster than using just one memory controller. Theory and practice and two separate things though and it is therefore interesting to see how it really performs.

At PC Perspective they have posted a thorough review of the SSD with 250GB maximal capacity. The specifications are not the best around, but for being a mid-range product they are nothing to be ashamed of. Both read and write speeds are close to the big actors and PC Perspective seems to be overall pleased with OCZ’s latest creation, despite, or perhaps thanks to, using two JMicron memory controllers, which has received a lot of harsh words.
