Both AMD and NVIDIA recently released new drivers for their latest graphics card series and both manufacturers promise performance improvements in multiple games. ATI Catalyst 9.2 promises better performance in games like Crysis Warhead, F.E.A.R. 2 and World in Conflict. But unbiased tests show that the new drivers from ATI doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The performance is better in several scenarios, and at rare occasions where they have fixed problems with CrossFire the improvements are major.

AMD has focused on multi-GPU and except from a couple of thankful bug fixes it is mainly Radeon HD 4870 X2 that gains from an update to Catalyst 9.2.

NVIDIA seems to have done a better job with Forceware 182.06 which does offer considerable performance improvements in several games with its multi-GPU card, GeForce GTX 295, and the single-GPU card GeForce GTX 285. The conclusion is that both sets of drivers are worth updating to as they both sport bug fixes and performance improvements.
