Intel’s Atom processors got its big break on the netbook market but it now seems that Atom will also conquer the desktop market. According to sources, Intel has changed its production volumes for its single and dual-core Atom processors for the coming quarters. There are no specific numbers, but the most interesting is the extent of Intel’s Atom sales. In the first quarter Intel’s Atom processors will be in around 10 percent of all sold nettop and budget desktop system. In the fourth quarter they expect that the same ratio will be around 52 percent.

This would mean that Intel’s Atom processor would be found in half of all sold budget-oriented desktop computers. The Atom 230 and 330 models of today will be helped by Intel’s new Pineview-DC processor that with its dual cores and integrated graphics circuit will keep sales up in the fourth quarter.
