There have been some uncertainty surrounding Intel’s Core i5 launch schedule and when we hear that Intel’s new Lynnfield processors and P55 chipset might launch during the summer we later hear that it will be delayed. Intel is said to have moved the launch from July to September. Once again the reason is claimed to be the large stock of unsold Intel 4 series chipset. At the same time it could be possible to get a hold of Core i5 systems before September.

A bit contradictory the same sources at motherboard manufacturers claim that retail versions of Core i5 processors and P55 motherboards will appear in stores in the middle of August, which could mean that Intel is delayed the launch a bit longer for OEMs… feisty.

2,66GHz Core i5 processor

The new Core i5 processors will launch at three frequencies; 2,66GHz, 2,8GHz and 2,93GHz. The first processors are based on the Lynnfield core and has a  TDP of 95W with four physical processor cores.
