Though NVIDIA has already launched graphics circuits with 40nm technology, which AMD now uses to its fullest with its latest GPU. NVIDIA’s has kept a much lower profile and so far the 40nm budget and mid-range chips have been OEM exclusive budget. It now looks like NVIDIA’s first 40nm card is hitting retail. Graphics card with the GT 220 chip is expected to launch in three weeks after Gigabyte leaked both specifications and launch date.

Just like the other 40nm circuits from NVIDIA this one targets the budget market and with 48 shader processors and 1GB GDDR3 memory connected with a narrow 128-bit memory bus it will be far from any kind of performance monster. The clock frequencies of Gigabyte GT 220 OC are set to 750MHz GPU and 1600MHz memory.

As hinted by previous rumors of NVIDIA GT 220 it only supports DX10.1, which is still an improvement for NVIDIA. On top of that Gigabyte has crowned the card with a new cooler and HDMI output. Exact prices were not revealed, but count on more information in just a few weeks, from other manufacturers as well.
