Intel will launch two energy efficient processors of the Lynnfield family in Q1 2010, but already the first processors have ended up in the hands of eager users. The two processors, Core i7-860s and Core i5-750s, are rated in the 82W TDP envelope, slightly less than 95W for the reference models. The top model 860s ships with 2.53GHz clock frequency while 750s has to settle for 2.4GHz, also losing the HyperThreading support.
Overclocker Coolaler got his hands on these two CPUs and decided to overclock them. The results aren’t too shabby where managed to overclock Core i7-860s to more than 4.5GHz with regular air cooling and just a slight increase in voltage. The entry model Core i7-750s was in turn moved to 3.4GHz.
Exactly when Intel will launch these new energy efficient Lynnfield models hasn’t been confirmed, but they look to be in pretty good shape already.
