Intel’s new 32 nanometer mobile processors of the Arrandale family are pretty good at weighing performance against energy efficiency. ASUS has presented a new notebook using Intel’s new mobile Core i7 processor that can achieve battery times up to 12 hours, but also performance when needed. ASUS UL80JT ships with dual graphics circuits, Intel’s integrated GMA 3150 and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce 310 GPU.

Through Intel’s integrated Turbo Boost technology and ASUS’ own Turbo 33 technology that overclocks the processor another 33 percent the computer can achieve great performance at need, at graphically intense work it will activate the GeForce G310 GPU.

At light loads or when idle the computer switches back to Intel’s integrated graphics circuit and reduce the clock frequencies. Something that will result in up to 12 hour battery time with this 14″ laptop. The great about it is that it is all automatic and a development we hope to see more of with notebooks as a whole; more intelligent use available resources.

ASUS UL80JT will cost around €1000 when it arrives later this year.
