Intel has revealed a unique cooling system at IDF this week, unique in the way that is in fact a water cooling kit from Intel self. We’ve earlier heard about this system being under development for three years and that it will be easy to use and simply a very efficient system. Simply the two main goals with the system as it wants to take commerical water cooling to a new level. If the system has been under development for a couple of years the intended processors was most likely the power hungry NetBurst architecture. Now it seems it will be able to solve the cooling without water cooling as its new architecture has a completely new focus with performance/watt, but powerful cooling is always needed in a PC.
At HardwareSecrets they’ve published an article covering Intel’s new water cooling system, revealing a bit more details about its construction and why it has chosen to use metal pipes instead of rubber/silicone hoses. Interesting reading that really show that Intel actually seem to have the consumer market in mind with this system and if there is anyone who have the power to succeed with this it’s Intel.
