Except for the high end section of the graphic card market where nVidia is dominating with its 7800-series the market is quite open in the mid and low end segment. ATi has recently launched a new circuit which is suppose to be a direct competitor to nVidia’s very popular GeForce 6600GT-circuit. Radeon X800GT is the name of the circuit and it has gotten a good acknowledgement in several tests. The problem is that X800GT is a bit late, especially since nVidia launched GeForce 6800XT the day after.
It is its reply to X800GT. 6800XT is a 6800-based circuit with 8 pipelines and a marginally lower price than X800GT, but it will only be available to OEMs to begin with.
