NVIDIA earlier released new graphics card drivers, GeForce 190.62 WHQL, bringing along some pleasant news where  NVIDIA tries to improve the support for PhysX. NVIDIA claims to have optimized the drivers for two coming PhysX games, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Darkest of Days. Exactly what’s been is unclear but NVIDIA hopes that these two games will open up the eyes of the consumers for hardware accelerated physical effects.

We have found video demonstration that show how PhysX is used in the two coming games, and here we see everything from advanced particle effects to wind affecting the gameplay.

The new PhysX software (9.09.0814) aside, there is also a new DirectX API inside NVIDIA’s new drivers. DirectCompute was developed by Microsoft and can be used with both DX10 and DX11 compatible hardware in Windows Vista or Windows 7, and is intended to be used in development of new GPGPU applications.

But Compute Shader can also be used for impressive 3D effects, especially through Microsoft’s new DirectX 11 API. For some examples of what Compute Shaders can do NVIDIA has published a number of tech demos at YouTube.
