Gigabyte is, together with ASUS and MSI, one of the leading motherboard manufacturers. The fact that motherboard sales made up 80% of the total income in 2008 says it all really. Even if Gigabyte is already selling notebooks of all kinds it hasn’t been able to break through in the same way its competitors has. This is something it aims to change in 2009 as it has now revealed plans to launch three new 10″ netbooks in the second quarter.

Gigabyte Café Book is the name of the new netbook sporting a turnable 8.9″ touchscreen, clearly sticking out from the masses, but at the same costing a lot more than other netbooks.

Gigabyte seems to be planning three, more classic, dare we say boring?, netbooks that will fight in the same price range as the competitor. Two of the models will be developed by Gigabyte while the third will be made by Quanta Computer.

We hope to see some fresh thinking from Gigabytes, something it clearly showed with Café Book.
