AMD is already out with with its latest generation of graphics cards and Radeon HD 5870 have been praised by most. NVIDIA is working hard on getting its new high-end GPU ready for market, also known as GT300. According to the latest rumors it has been code-named Fermi. The name comes from scientist and professor Enrico Fermi, who participated in the creation of the first atomic bomb.

If this is in any way a suitable name or not we will leave to you to decide. Performance is said to be out of the ordinary, but hopefully GT300 consumes a bit less power than the inspiration.

It is also said that Fermi is ready for mass production, which means that the first card could appear before the end of the year. NVIDIA is going all in for parallel workload and the CUDA concept, but performance in games will not be far behind on the list of priorities.

The architecture is different from the current G200 will have DirectX 11 and GDDR5 support.
