Toshiba is hoping to take the market by storm with the first HD DVD players at the end of the month. Alas it seems the launch won’t have much of an edge though as there will be no HD DVD movies available at the time. Something that will make it very hard to motivate a purchase of a HD DVD capable player. Warner Home Video has namely announced that it will not launch any HD DVD movies on March 28 as it first announced, now it seems that the first movies will not arrive until a few weeks after the launch of the first players.
Hardly an ideal situation for Toshiba and HD DVD, but at the same time they’ve gotten some space as Sony has announced that its PS3 will be delayed, just because of the Blu-ray format. Neither HD DVD nor Blu-ray seems to get a perfect start making the situation even more complex.
