Intel Core 2 Duo E8000 is based on the Penryn microarchitecture. The processors of this series sport two cores and is also known as Wolfdale. The frequency range from 2.66GHz with the E8200 model, up to 3.16GHz with the E8500 model, and in between there’s the E8400 model running at 3.0GHz. All models have 6MB L2 cache, 65W TDP and 1333MHz FSB. The prices will be $163, $183 and $266 respectively when they arrive later this month. But what about the performance? Well over at Xbit-labs they’ve posted a review of these three processors, C0 stepping (retail), and even though the processors aren’t much faster than the predecessors of the E6000 series, they are cooler and consumes considerably less power, which also means more overclocking headroom.
