We have known for quite some time that Intel is set for launching its LGA1156 platform in September and it looks be coming on September 6th. According to the documents seen by X-bit Labs we will witness Intel announcing three new Lynnfield processors, two for the Core i7 family(Core i7 870, 860) and the first Core i5 model (Core i5 750). These three models bring several news absent from other Nehalem-based processors.
First of all it uses the LGA1156 socket as Lynnfield requires less pins, partly because it only has two DDR3 memory channels, unlike Bloomfield’s three.
Processor | Cores/Threads | Frequency | Turbo Boost | Cache | TDP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Core i7 870 | 4C/8T | 2,93GHz | 3,60GHz | 8MB | 95W |
Core i7 860 | 4C/8T | 2,80GHz | 3,46GHz | 8MB | 95W |
Core i5 750 | 4C/4T | 2,66GHz | 3,20GHz | 8MB | 95W |
The new processors offer lower power consumption than the current Bloomfield lineup, but in Q1 2010 there will be more efficient versions of the latter.
In the first quarter 2010, Intel will launch the first two Energy Efficient Core i7 processors. Core i7 860S and 750S will operate at 2.53GHz and 2.4GHz respectively, rated at 82W.
