The PC market is suffering from a much lower demand due to the poor economy of 2009. The notebook market was declining already in the fourth quarter of 2008 and with a lower net profit than expected for Intel many have been waiting to see what the company would do to turn this around. One way would be to lower prices of its mobile processors, even if this would reduce margins it could result in a higher demand, which would make it a good move all in all.

Rumors were talking about a price cut already during the first quarter of 2009, but Intel has now explained to partners that the prices will be changed. It will not perform any price cuts before May, something many of its partners actually appreciates. Many are sitting on quite substantial amounts of Intel circuits bought for current prices and still haven’t found buyers for these.

In June we can expect the first price cuts with mobile processors, among others Core 2 Duo T9600. As one of Intel’s top models it will be be reduced with 13-40%.
