NVIDIA has graphics circuits at the 40nm node for both notebooks and desktops, but it hasn’t made much fuzz about the latter, which is probably because they’re not really worth the effort. Even if GT220 and G210 may be solid entry level cards, they won’t win over any consumers, which may very well be the reason they are OEM exclusive. It has been revealed that NVIDIA is planning its first 40nm mid-range card for the Holiday shoppings.

NVIDIA GT230 is said to be under development and heading for December launch. The unconfirmed information on GT230 doesn’t offer many details other than the 40nm technology being used, and that it will use either GDDR3 or GDDR5 memory.

It is not certain whether GT230 will be a way for NVIDIA to tame DirectX 11 (highly unlikely), or if it is simply a faster version of GT220, which seems quite plausible.

The number of shader processors are said to be between 64 and 96. The more, the merrier, the faster it becomes, so we’re obviously hoping for the latter amount. Alas, it will probably be OEM exclusive too…

40nm GT220 is only found at OEMs
