Microsoft recently released an updated version of its mobile phone operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5. The launched wasn’t all that successful though and instead of talking about the update people started looking for what Microsoft will offer with Windows Mobile 7. Now it looks like Windows Mobile 7 has been delayed until 2011 and at the same time we hear that more and more mobile phone manufacturers are abandoning Microsoft’s platform.
We have witnessed how HTC and Motorola have become big supporters of Google’s Android operating system and the last to follow is LG, who has revealed that half of all its smartphones it will run Android in 2010.
The problems doesn’t end there though, but also MIDs and smartbooks can turn to Android or even Chrome OS that is expected to launch later this year.
Windows Mobile 7 inspired theme
Microsoft hasn’t officially commented on the stories on the delay of Windows Mobile 7, but the software giant will need to come up with something real clever to catch up to Google and Apple, which are both propelling forward at a tremendous rate.
