Opti is the company suing AMD. According to the company, AMD has made intrusions on three of the company’s patents and all of these covers how the processor predicts what data to fetch from the cache. The patents are from 1998, and 2002, and form what it seem Opti wants an open trial with AMD, but at the same time get a stop to the chips which are sold using Opti’s patents. Earlier on, Opti won a suit against Nokia which will now have to pay $7 million during a period of three years. Whether AMD will end up at the wrong end and lose we will just have to wait and see.
