Just as NVIDIA unleashed GeForce 9600GT, AMD announced a price cut of both Radeon HD 3870 and Radeon HD 3850. The new prices will be $189 for Radeon HD 3870, down from $240, and $169 for Radeon HD 3850 512MB, down from $199, which should put them more in line with the newly launched GeForce 9600GT, price/performance-wise that is. Considering the high yields and price margin AMD has, this shouldn’t prove to be all that painful if AMD succeeds in stealing some of NVIDIA’s thunder.
