AMD Montreal first appeared back in early 2007, and it was said to use an Intel-approach to multi-core. Stories claimed that AMD would take two Shanghai dies, slap them together and create a two-die octa-core processor dubbed Montreal. According to FUD, Montreal is actually a native octa-core. The source is a high-ranking officer at AMD. Since Montreal isn’t suppose to arrive until next year sometime, we’ll just have to wait until then, or when AMD decides to reveal more information about it.
