AMD has taken a great step forward on the semiconductor market and not surprisingly its the acquisition of ATI which has pushed AMD forward the most. According to analysts at iSuppli, AMD’s revenues will be 90% higher than last year and this has granted AMD seventh place on the list of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer. AMD is expected to have a revenue of $7.5 billion and even if its a significant increase from last year’s $3.9 billion it’s cookie crumbles when compared to the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, namely Intel. Intel has dropped a bit since last year, but it is still the supreme leader with a total revenue of $31.4 billion. You can compare this with Samsung, which is the world’s second largest semiconductor manufacturer, which is estimated to end up at $17.2 billion.
