AMD Quadfather, or 4×4, is a platform that is suppose to replace today’s FX processors, which in turn will be phased out in favor of the new platform. Instead of using special processors with the regular motherboard platform, AMD has now chosen to use a whole new platform based on Socket L1FX (1207 pin). At the same time, these boards will be based on two NVIDIA 680a chipsets, which gives us the possibility of using four graphics cards in one system. An article over at Hexus not only offers a good overview of the platform but also interesting thoughts about what will come.
