AMD has according to The Inquirer decided to launch its 4×4 platform, also known as Quadfather, on November 14. In other words, the same time as Intel will let its first quad-core processor loose, Kentsfield. AMD is still waiting for its quad-core processor, it’s expected to be launched during the first quarter of 2007 and its 4×4 platform is expected to use two dual-core processors tied together using the manufacturer’s Opteron platform. Despite its acquisition of ATI it’s NVIDIA which will supply the chipset for the system and we’re eager to see some comparisons between 4×4 and Kentsfield-based systems. To us consumers both platforms should be available at the same time.
