According to analysts at DRAMeXchange, AMD has more or less been able to achieve the goal it was aiming for one year ago. It was hoping to achieve a market share of 15%, of the processor sales, on the notebook market. AMD has now reached 14.9% of this market, a true milestone for AMD which for long had a tough time competing with Intel’s Pentium M architecture and its Centrino platform. During the first three quarters of 2006 AMD shipped 2.85 million notebook processors and the key to the success is said to be AMD’s focus on the budget market. Intel is still the unthreatened king of the hill as it makes 82.1% of all processors on the notebook market.
