The processor market has changed a lot over the last two years. AMD was stealing more and more market shares from chip giant Intel, but the tide turned and all of a sudden Intel’s was moving away, much thanks to the Core architecture. If this has taught us anything, it’s that nothing is solid on the CPU market, and even if AMD is working uphill right now, things may very well different in the future. Over at PC Advisor they’ve published a quite interesting article where they discuss the future of the processor market. They’ve simply dissected AMD’s and Intel’s plans for the future and put them against each other.
They focus on the current situation and especially 2008 as both AMD and Intel have some very interesting products planned for this year. They discuss Intel’s coming Nehalem architecture, which with its integrated memory controller could become one of Intel’s most important processor launches in a long time.
Other interesting launches to look forward to is the Fusion processor from AMD, which will sport both CPU and GPU cores in the same package. Fusion isn’t expected to hit the market until 2009, but we’re eager to see what this integrated processor can do.
Those of you want an overview of the upcoming processor market should take a look at the article over at PC Advisor.
