AMD announced the new enthusiast card Radeon HD 4890 a few days ago, but has now announced new models for the business professional market. Among others a new dual-GPU cars of the FirePro series. The cards will use two RV770 graphics circuits, much like Radeon HD 4870 X2, but it will sport 4GB GDDR5 memory. This will result in a maximal performance of 2.4TFlops and a memory bandwidth of 217GB/s.

NVIDIA is yet to announce its first graphics card with GDDR5 memory and it is most likely not happy with AMD spraying the fast memory circuits all over the place. On the other hand, NVIDIA might launch a Quadro graphics card with 3.5GB or even 7GB GDDR3 memory if they felt like it.

Four gigabytes of graphics memory should be enough for most of the demanding tasks that the graphics designers will use it for. At the same time, AMD says that the card will only consume 76W, which makes it a relatively energy graphics card too. The price remains a bit clouded at the moment, which might be for the best.
