The 4×4 platform will with its support for four processor cores, dual dual-core processors, and four graphics cards be AMD’s answer to Intel’s quad-core Kentsfield processor. So far we’ve only seen information about a single 4×4 motherboard, namely from ASUS. This could be considered a bit weird, especially considering how close the actual launch is. Now it seems there is a very simple reason for this; ASUS is the only manufacturer which has designed a 4×4 motherboard. Simply because AMD has granted the motherboard giant an exclusive deal on the platform by not sending out test processors to any other motherboard manufacturer. The criticism from AMD’s other partners have been harsh and they now accuse AMD for acting like Intel once did.
