Quad FX, earlier known as QuadFather and 4×4, has been criticized for a number of reasons, the latest was the fact that ASUS was the only company that received processors from AMD to be able to build and test a motherboard for the platform. This board would in turn be pretty expensive, which hardly surprises anyone considering what the 680i-based boards costs today. The Inquirer now reports that the coming Quad FX motherboards will in facts not be that much more expensive than the current 680i boards, despite that these use two circuits from NVIDIA.
