AMD has improved its launch strategies a lot lately, with hardware available at launch and its coming Radeon HD 4980 with the new RV790 circuit will be available at launch, in fact it already is to some. AMD is having some problems with graphics cards being available in stores before we are even allowed to publish benchmarks. Luckily there will be more than one version of Radeon HD 4890, where partners have spent a lot of money on coming up with exclusive versions and we have stumbled upon XFX’s plans.

XFX will continue its enthusiast venture and launch two overclocked Radeon HD 4890 to back up the third reference card.
| GPU | Memory | |
| XFX Radeon HD 4890 | 850MHz | 3900MHz |
| XFX Radeon HD 4890 XT | 875MHz | 3900MHz |
| XFX Radeon HD 4890 XXX Edition | 900MHz | 3900MHz |
The only thing separating the cards is the GPU clock frequency as they otherwise share features like 1GB 3900MHz GDDR5 memory, dual-slot cooler, two DVI outputs and more. Prices are expected to land somewhere in the $240-280 range.
